Constructing a Sustainable Life on Earth Project (CaSLoE)
CaSLoE is a careers education project that uses the growing global challenges humanity faces in areas such as climate change and air quality and the solutions that are being researched and developed to address these as a metaphor through which to:
Introduce young people to different career pathways in sectors such as engineering, architecture and technology.
Explore how careers in these sectors can enable them to work on addressing the growing global challenges humanity faces
CaSLoE will also give young people the opportunity to collaborate with professionals to explore and engage with the digital technology systems and applications that are been developed to address these challenges; systems and process such as 3D visualisation, earth observation satellites, additive manufacturing, generative design; sustainable construction; material sciences, augmented and virtual reality, robotics, artificial intelligence and the application of smart connected sensors.
Escalating biodiversity loss, the depletion of natural resources and the continuing struggle to combat climate change are growing global challenges.
The United Nations (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are 17 goals that the UN has agreed to for a more sustainable future. The Goals are broad, covering all aspects of sustainability from Affordable and Clean Energy – Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all (SG7) to to climate action (SDG 13) and innovation (SDG 9).
CaSLoE will give young people the opportunity to explore how the following SDGs are being addressed companies, SMEs, Non- Government Organisations (NGOs), universities and individuals and the role they could play in their future careers :
Goal 2: Zero Hunger
Goal 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
Goal 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
Goal 9: Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure
Goal 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
Goal 12: Responsible Consumption and Production
Goal 13: Climate Action
Goal 14: Life Below Water
Goal 15: Life on Land
4Wardfutures will develop CASLoE through collaboration with multinational companies, SMEs, universities, NGOs, start-ups and individuals from across sectors such as engineering, architecture, construction, technology, material science, transport, agriculture and energy who are working to develop solutions to these challenges.
